Without tea, Dhirendra Prasad, 59, and Rama Wati, 58, will not begin their day. This is ritual for the Vunivau couple in Labasa the last 39 years as they always start their day with their cup of tea.

Ms Wati said even though her husband would wake up late, she would still have her cup of tea at 5am.

The mother of four children said ever since they have been married together they have been drinking Bushells tea together.

“This is because we like the smell and taste brewed tea,” Mrs Wati said.

“It’s the best energy drink and we are so much addicted to it that we haven’t tried other brands of tea. Bushells has always been our tea.” Mr Prasad, originally from Savusavu said tea has often brought him closer to his wife.

“We always have tea together in the mornings and afternoons,” Mr Prasad, a retired taxi driver said.

“We even have identical mugs which we drink our tea from. “Nothing has changed between us over the years as my wife brews our tea.

“We have grown old together having tea and even our six grandchildren are used to seeing us having tea together,” he said.

“Like tea is sweet our love is also sweet; our family has been bonded with love.”
