Former Fiji Warriors lock Maikeli Mudu (pictured) aims to be a Fiji Airways Flying Fijians rep in 2021. The Korovuto, Nadi, native is making a name for himself for the Austin Gilgronis, which competes in the Major League Rugby (MLR) in the United States.

Dubbed the ‘Fijian Godzilla’ he played alongside Fiji 7s triallist Lino Saunitoga (#8) and Peni Tagive, a former Fiji Bati squad member. A club statement on Instagram posted: “Fijian Godzilla’ has been impressive so far this season ... He has been taking no prisoners.”

Mudu said: “My aim is to try the Fijian jumper next year. I’ve represented Fiji in Under- 20 and Fiji Warriors.” One of his best memories for the 2020 season was the 24-20 victory over Osea Kolinisau’s Houston SaberCats in the Inaugural 2020 Texas Cup, an annual match between the two clubs.

Other notable players in the side include former Wallaby centre Adam Ashley Cooper, Tongan first fiveeighth Kurt Morath and former All Blacks Frank Halai and Jamie Mackintosh.
