Japan makes progress in vaccine development

Tokyo: Major Japanese pharmaceutical firms, venture companies and research organisations, including universities, are working to develop vaccines against the coronavirus.

Last week, the government decided to support four studies led by pharmaceutical companies and five led by research organisations to develop a vaccine with subsidies.

Clinical trials are expected to start this summer at the earliest. NHK
