ANALYSIS: THIRD GROUP WITHIN PARTY?
Is there a third group within the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) which is with neither the Holiday Inn faction nor the Kshatriya Hall faction, but is geared towards upholding the vision of the Party?
There has been increasing support for outspoken SODELPA MP Niko Nawaikula to assume SODELPA leadership. In fact, his support online has been so intense that his supporters have called on him to form a new Party and have agreed to fund it and also join it. Mr Nawaikula was more active in Parliament yesterday and pushed for his old rhetoric agendas. As a prominent SODELPA member and activist and a continuing member of Parliament under SODELPA, his absence from both the meetings on Saturday was rather conspicuous.
Aiding him in his cause could be former SODELPA youth leader
Pita Waqavonovono. Both have had the Party at heart and there is no doubt if both decide to form a third faction, it would gain traction.
Another theory is these are desperate attempts to withhold the rapidly reducing voter base of SODELPA.
Neither of these party stalwarts have offered or provided avenues of resolving the farce.
Clearly they have not come out in support of the mediator/party leader.
