Labasa Football continues to pay players
Labasa Football Association president Rayaz Khan confirmed yesterday that their players had been paid their wages despite the fact that they reduced the amount.
Khan said they were in contact with the players even though no matches had been played because of the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. He said players had been asked to do their own training.
“The players have been getting their wages but we’ve to reduce the amount due to this pandemic,” he said.
“The last match Labasa played in the Vodafone Premier League was in February.”
Khan said players had been busy working on their farm and even some had done well with their backyard gardening.
“We’re waiting on Government’s announcement on the sporting restrictions and only then we can plan something for the players.” Meanwhile, he indicated that Ronil Lal was still their coach while the manager’s post is now vacant.
