Volivoli Beach Resort in the Sushine Coast has attracted a good number of locals since the launch of the ‘Love our Locals’ promotion after re-opening two weeks ago.

Among the many locals who took up the special offer, were 30 expatriates who checked in to the resort last weekend to scuba dive.

Resort manager Geraldine Vakaloloma said the response for the special local rates has been good. “We opened on May 15. Because of the bad weather we had three rooms.

“But last weekend we had 21 rooms booked which was about 58 in-house guests,” Ms Vakaloloma said.

“We are actually quite happy with the response.”

Ms Vakaloloma said the resort near Rakiraki Town was only open over the weekend with check-in on Friday and check-out on Sunday.

“Our new rates for locals is only applicable if you stay a minimum of two days so that means you have to check in on Friday.” Ms Vakaloloma said the rates includes a complimentary plated breakfast for two adults and all activities are open for guests.

The resort has also welcomed locals who travel between Suva and Lautoka on the Kings Road and are looking for a place to eat.

Sales and Marketing executive Simon Doughty said the promotion aimed at helping local and the expatriate community enjoy a fun weekend away after isolation and travel restrictions.

He said whilst Volivoli Beach Resort was known to scuba divers around the globe as one of Fiji’s premier dive resort and exploring Fiji’s number one dive region, Bligh Waters, there was so much more to offer.

The re-opening of the resort has also seen the return of 11 staff members who are working on reduced hours.

Activities

Guests have a seemingly endless range of activities to choose from: snorkelling, stand-up paddle boarding and kayaking, dolphin encounter charters, a range of fishing options, being pampered at the day spa or simply lazing around one of the pools, on the beach or in a hammock to name a few.
