New date for SunnyWest Bowls

Oorganiser­s of the SunnyWest Bowls Carnival have confirmed that the 2021 event is going to be staged from May 20-27 in Nadi.

Nadi Sports and Social club general manager/secretary Shamal Kumar said yesterday the 2020 event had been called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“To be fair to those who worked hard, volunteere­d and those who registered for the event, the SunnyWest Bowling Carnival has been called off and will be hosted in Fiji next year,” he said.

Kumar confirmed that the decision was made after consultati­on with Bowls Fiji, He said the organising committee had worked tirelessly in preparing this year’s tournament, which was scheduled for May 14-21.

Kumar said they were anticipati­ng 70 internatio­nal bowlers and 50 local bowlers making this carnival even bigger than any other year.

NEXT YEAR’S EVENT

■May 20, 2021-Opening cocktail from 7pm; ■May 21, 2021-Fours Discipline registrati­on and the game starts;

■May 22, 2021-Fours Discipline

■May 23, 2021-Fours Discipline finals;

■May 24, 2021-Free Day– Committee may organise a tour;

■May 25, 2021- Pairs Discipline registrati­on and the game starts;

■May 26, 2021-Pairs Discipline;

■May 27, 2021- Pairs Discipline finals & Closing Dinner/Awards Nite from 7pm
