COVID-19 Patient 9 in custody

COVID-19 Patient 9, Mohammed Saheed, of Soasoa in Labasa was taken into Police custody for allegedly breaching self-quarantine orders after arriving into Fiji. This was confirmed by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday.

The 54-year-old man was supposed to be charged with one count of failure to comply with orders and produced at the Labasa Magistrates Court yesterday.

However, Brigadier-General Qiliho said because investigations continue, they would be seeking further legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions before a case was produced.
