POLICE OFFICER AMONG 36 ARRESTED

A Police officer in the Western Division was among the 36 people arrested for breach of curfew from 10pm to 5am in the 24 hours ending at 5am yesterday.

The officer was arrested after hiring a taxi from Nadi to Lautoka during curfew hours saying he needed to get to work.

However, the driver took the officer directly to the Lautoka Police Station because he was acting in a suspicious manner and was allegedly intoxicate­d. The Southern Division recorded 23 reports, eight in the Western Division, three in the North and two in the East. In the Southern Division, a 31-yearold man was arrested at Jittu Estate after he was found moving around after midnight.

The man could also possibly face an additional charge of being found in possession of dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Thirteen arrests were made in the Raiwaqa area, including juveniles, as they were found moving around during curfew hours.
