Justice for Floyd: Fijian in Canada joins the chorus of supporters to pay tribute
Award-winning Canadian Fijian music composer and songwriter Faiyaz Khan has denounced Police brutality in the wake of George Floyd killing in Minneapolis, United States. The 46-year-old African American died after pleading for help as a Police officer used his knee on his neck to pin him, unarmed and handcuffed to the ground. Mr Khan, who won the awards for “We Are One Canada 150th” and “Together You And I World Peace Message” songs, called for justice for Mr Floyd.
“Justice for all enough is enough,” Mr Khan said.
“How can anyone see this any different than murder. I just can’t believe the other officers allowed it to happen.”
Mr Khan said all officers involved were guilty of murder.
“There is no excuse for what happened. He begged for his life, begged for water, asked his mama for help, unconscious still wasn’t enough to stop. Is this humanity?” The famed composer and songwriter said all acts of violence should be condemned.
“I won’t be fooled anymore or brainwashed by them.”
In a lyrical rendition Khan writes: “Justifying cruelty how can you be so cold. We need to stop believing all the lies that we are told. “When we care for all from within. Respect every faith and color of skin.
“Realise God made us equally.
“To live in peace and harmony, RIP, George Floyd.”
Mr Khan wrote a song on Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama – “You Make Things Right” - and gifted him during his 2015 tour of Vancouver.
