Storm Nisarga set to hit COVID-ravaged Mumbai

-

Mumbai: An alert has been sounded in India’s western coastal areas and the financial capital Mumbai ahead of the arriving Cyclone Nisarga which is expected to make the landfall today.

To carry out relief and rescue work during and after the cyclone, several teams of the country’s National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed, confirmed an official source.

This would be the second successive cyclone to hit India in two weeks. Super cyclone “Amphan” had hit the eastern coastal areas on May 20, affecting several districts in the states of Odisha and West Bengal, leaving behind a tale of devastation. The cyclone Nisarga is most likely to make the landfall somewhere in northern Maharashtra or southern Gujarat.
