It is now 72 days in isolation at the Navua Hospital for patient four, a 28-year-old man who arrived from Australia.

He is among the three active cases who are still at the location. The other two active cases are patient six, a 22-year-old hairdresser from Suva, and patient 12, a 12-year-old also from Suva.

Patients six and 12 have been in isolation for 63 and 61 days respectively.

Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said the mental health element for the patients in isolation was also part of their treatment. Mohammed Imroz, formerly patient seven and now recovered is husband of patient six and father of patient 12.

Mr Imroz said although he had been going to the Navua Hospital, he had not been able to directly converse with his wife and daughter.

He said this year had been tough as he spent the festival of Eid without his family members.

“According to the conversations I have had with them, they are asymptomatic and not sick. I cannot understand why all their tests are returning as positive,” he said. “I hope things change in the next few days.”

According to the Ministry of Health, Fiji is on day 77 after the first case and day 46 for case 18. Of the 18 cases, 15 have recovered. In terms of inbound travel with passengers, a repatriation flight from Honiara, Solomon Islands, arrived on May 27, with 20 people, currently accommodated at Tanoa International, they are on day five of the 14day.

In terms of screening, the Ministry of Health has screened 92 per cent of the population, which amounts to 814,363.
