Good news for pork lovers along the Suva and Nausori corridor as The Vuda Pork Shop has opened its second outlet at shop 31, Lee’s Trading Complex in Laucala Beach.

This is a joint venture between business partners Aaron Spencer, of South Pacific Butchering Company, and Simon Cole, of the The Vuda Pork Shop.

Mr Cole said the new outlet is to expand the pork market to areas where consumers do not consume pork as a daily meat.

Expanding pork market

He said the new drive by outlet would give an opportunity for customers to also try various cuts of pork.

“It’s interesting because pork is a major choice for i-Taukei families and people won’t buy it unless it’s in a function.

“It’s not an i-Taukei function without pork and we want to change people’s attitude towards a dish that people can eat during the week.

“We have very competitive prices and we are able to do that because we cut the overheads very low.

“At these prices, pork is one of the cheapest meat available in the country,” he said.

Since its opening yesterday, more than 20 customers quickly flocked the shop as pork shoulder was on specials for $7.99 a kilo.

Vuda Pork had to refill one of its freezers as it had sold out.

“In two weeks’ time we will move the special to another cut and then another cut so that customers can get to try all the different cuts,” he said.

Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9am – 6pm and Sunday 9am – 2pm.

Current specials valid until Sunday June 7.
