“This is a great outcome for Fiji. It is testament to the speed and decisiveness with which the Government moved to combat COVID-19. The Government was prepared to make difficult decisions on for instance the closure of borders, for which it was criticised in some quarters, and these decisions have been vindicated. Australia has been pleased to support Fiji’s response to COVID-19. We have provided medical equipment, including tests and PPE, as well as direct budget support. So far, our support has amounted to AU$13.3 million.”
