The reasons

Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel decided to remain open during challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, saying its purpose was to serve travellers who needed lodgings during restriction on travel.

Management also decided it would open to provide essential services to surrounding communities. Or provide a gateway to those that sought an escape from the busy schedule, for some quiet time.

Narend Kumar, area general manager for Tanoa Hotel Group, said: “Keeping our Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel open has provided us the ideal opportunity to continue working closely with all our partners’ before and during coronavirus. This is to elevate our cleanliness standards and provide a hygienically safe stay for all guests.”

Avinesh and Rameshwari Mani, and their staff persuaded management to keep the hotel open in anticipation of guests that may need accommodation.

The result brought guests including doctors who could not return in time to their respective destinations during the Suva lockdown.Tanoa Rakiraki has also been home to a host of government and corporate personnel, who were serving the local communities.
