Gymnastics Fiji Federation of Fiji’s board director, Tessa Eastgate says, they are looking for young athletes who wants to take up the sport.

The Federation currently has a 12-year-old development athlete and another 12-year-old potential athlete.

Development athlete, Robyn Eastgate is a recipient of the Fiji National Sports Commission Athlete Development Grant while potential athlete, Shammah Titifanue had her gymnastics talent identified by the Federation.

She was part of the team that represented Fiji at the 2019 World Gymnaestrada in Austria.

Eastgate said the commitment shown by the two young athletes had made the Federation confident that there were more potential athletes out there.

“Robyn has trained in the Premier Gymnastics Academy in Brisbane, and the New South Wales Academy of Gymnastics in Sydney.

“Had the COVID-19 pandemic not happened, she would have been training in the Philippines by now. “Shammah has been identified as a talent and if she chooses to be an athlete, we can build on that.”

Eastagate said if young talented gymnasts were interested in growing their talent the Federation would stand ready to support them. “We are on a lookout for talented potential athletes to show, demonstrate and compete.

“If they want to pursue their talent, we are here to support them.”
