National Fire Authority response
Dewan Chand, Suva
Reference is made to the lengthy letter of explanation written by the National Fire Authority’s chief executive officer on the Rakiraki fire saga and the criticism levelled against it.
I am appalled at the threat directed against the critics. In a democratic set-up organisations and office holders must be prepared to listen to the concerns of the people.
An empty fire hydrant in a fire crisis is an unacceptable situation.
Therefore, NFA should not get upset with the criticism directed to it or any other authority responsible for supplying water in a fire hydrant.
The nation recognises the excellent job our firefighters are doing in times of emergencies.
They put their lives at risk to save the lives of others and their properties. It is not questionable.
