In the 2022 General Election, only candidates from the province of Naitasiri will be promoted to represent the vanua in SODELPA (in suspension).

This was the consensus at the Naitasiri Bose Ni Vanua on Wednesday where villagers have opted to appoint one of their own whom they can easily interact with and hold to account.

The province has spoken out against the decision made during the 2018 election for voters to vote for the suspended party and its leader, Sitiveni Rabuka.

“Naitasiri must never be used to advance the hidden selfish agendas of some politicians,” Naitasiri representative Aseri Radrodro said.

“For the next elections, the

Province will promote its own provincial candidates so that it’s easy for the villagers to interact with them and hold them to account. In the 2018 elections, the promotion of voting for the suspended party and suspended party leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, would take into Parliament candidates from the province and the suspended party was misleading.

He said the Province would always respect and uphold the rule of law.

However, anything that threatens that principle will not be accepted by the vanua.

The Bose Ni Vanua also agreed that villagers will not support and sign the petition purporting to be from the Tikina o Nawaidina calling for the removal of suspended SODELPA’s vice president, Vijay Singh.

“Naitasiri wants all our people in Fiji to be protected and looked after equally. There is no room for discrimination. Naitasiri has been home to all races where their land run from Tamavua, Navuso, Wainibuku, Sawani areas right up to the hills, and they are proud to have lived alongside all races peacefully,” he said.

Out of the 16 Tikina’s, 12 were represented at the meeting which was Chaired by Ro Kiniviliame Kiliraki.

Also in attendance were delegates like the former minister now business executive Ratu Ilaitia Tuisese and Investment Advisor and Broker Isiromi Bayameyame. >Fonua Talei
