Minister for Infrastructure, Meteorological Services, Lands and Mineral Resources Jone Usamate launched the GoldHold Solar Pte Limited at Vakamasisuasua Industrial Subdivision in Labasa, on Wednesday. He congratulated the company director Richard Du for the investment and development of the company.

Mr Usamate said the GoldHold Solar company built a facility that would entirely run on solar energy which was one of the greatest development in Fiji.

“This is a pointer to other industries in Fiji, one of the proposals for the company is to become independent itself,” he said. Mr Usamate said their target was to make sure every household in Fiji have access to electricity by 2021.

“Our greatest challenge is to make

electricity renewable.”

He said at the moment in Fiji energy is about 50 to 60 per cent renewable energy.

The government has desire to make all electricity renewable.

“Energy Fiji Limited is being given a target of making all energy renewable in Fiji, to move away the fuel which is wasted on burning diesel fuel.”

Mr Usamate has urged more companies in Fiji to get on board and assist Government.
