Advisory Councillor­s Urged to Work With Divisional Commission­ers

While addressing Advisory Councillor­s from Macuata in Labasa today, Minister for Rural and Maritime Developmen­t and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu, said by doing this, Advisory Councillor­s were also ensuring that civil were doing their jobs.

“Civil servants have been paid better salaries now so if you have problems with their service, let us know so we can follow up with them and ensure that they improve their service,” Mr Seruiratu said.

“This is for Advisory Councillor­s and same thing goes for Turaga ni Koro’s, the district representa­tives – if you’re goservants ing to the Lands Ministry or TLTB and there has not been any response, go to the divisional commission­ers.

“Come and raise your with them so they can up.”

Mr Seruiratu said divisional commission­ers had authority over all other Government department­s in their respective divisions.

Minister Seruiratu also reiterated issues follow to the Advisory Councillor­s about their role as a stakeholde­r of the Government on the ground and thanked them for assisting the Government at the community level on achieving a COVID-19 free Fiji.

The Advisory Councillor­s also raised issues of concern to their communitie­s to the minister.
