FIRST FOR NAUSORI
ROC Market a buzz
Many people flocked into Nausori Town to be part of the Nausori ROC Market day yesterday. A first for its kind in the area, about 20 vendors were present at the old Nausori Market selling their different range of products and services. While many took advantage of the sale, for others, who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was a time to earn some cash.
Sainimili Moli, 43, said her stall was buzzing as soon as she opened.
Ms Moli sold baked goods, pot plants and secondhand clothing.
“I was let go about two months back after the coronavirus pandemic happened,” she said.
“I had worked for a local fabric outlet in Davuilevu, but because of bad business the owner was forced to close his business.
“I have never looked back and have looked to how to support my two children who are still in high school.”
She said the resilience of many Fijians to bounce back after they were laid off or had their hours reduced were stories worth talking about.
“I am adamant that I will make at least close to $500 today (yesterday),” she said.
“This is like an every-month-to-look-forward-to type of event, and hopefully more people will join the fun.”
