PM Bainimarama to update Fijians on COVID-19 restrictions today
Government hopes to make an announcement today regarding the COVID-19 restrictions in place.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, while commissioning the seawall at Dravuni Village, Tailevu, on Friday, said many people had requested for the curfew to remain.
“Many have asked not to lift the curfew as there has been less robbery attacks at night and there’s more family time,” he said.
“I am concerned that if we lift all the restrictions, there might be new cases arising, because people will be ignorant of the safety measures. But I will be looking into all these and will make my final decision on it soon.” Mr Bainimarama also urged students to continue to maintain good hygiene as they resume school on June 30.
