Assistance for Family of Seven

ALautoka family of seven, who has been living in a makeshift corrugated iron home for the past four years, believe that every prayer offered is answered.

That’s because after Being Helping Hands Fiji Lautoka donated groceries to the family last week and assured them of more assistance.

Laitilata Ranadi, along with her husband and their five children, are currently residing at the Beteki Settlement in Lovu, Lautoka.

Pieces of corrugated iron and wood were collected to build their family home and having to be without electricity and sufficient water was an added issue to the family. “Before we moved here we were renting in Field 40, I just told my husband to build our house; never mind if people talk about how we are living as long as we have food to eat,” Ms Ranadi said.

She said the situation was sad because her husband had lost his job because of COVID-19.

“I only have one mattress here for all of us, the rest of my stuff, when we stay like this we can save, we don’t have to worry about anything,” she said.

“Staying here for the last four years I told my husband that I need a good house, but I know I can’t force him to do that, it is only up to God to bring people to provide things for us.

“Every day we pray and my husband told me one day, one blessing is coming soon and we believe that.”

Being Helping Hands Lautoka member Ashley Krishna said helping the family was a priority project for the Lautoka team.

“I am pleading to the public to come forward and assist us with donations to assist this family,” she said.
