White drugs worry: Seruiratu

- LAISA LUI Edited by Ivamere Nataro

Two reported cases of the discovery of white drugs in Labasa is concerning, Minister for Defence and National Security Inia Seruiratu said.

During a briefing at the Divisional Police Commander’s office in Labasa, Mr Seruiratu said white drugs had become a concern since the recent reports of two cases. Mr Seruiratu encouraged the officers to engage with stakeholders and step up their good work. “Technology has its limitations and that is where manpower comes in, but how they can complement each other with the use of technology, that is where our focus is on right now,” he said. He acknowledged the leadership during the discussion on the COVID-19 crisis, leptospirosis, typhoid, dengue and diarrhea (LTDD) and Tropical Cyclone Harold.

“The ministry thanks you, as you know the Government heavily relied on the disciplined forces for the success of its work. One is for creating an environment for us to work and secondly the manpower for the logistics,” Mr Seruiratu said.

Mr Seruiratu said he would revisit the North with the Police Commissioner, Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho, to address the issue of white drugs.
