Fiji needs to become less dependent on tourism! The Central American nation of Belize has realized this and is developing a plan to encourage technology companies and people to relocate to Belize.

Fiji can do the same - lower taxes, encourage tech talent to relocate to the country that most developers use as their computer background and screensaver. Tech workers bring a demand for more restaurants, bars, construction, electricians, plumbers, etc. And they bring a huge amount of cultural diversity, and talents to share with Fiji. Imagine tech companies taking on graduates from USP rather than losing that brain power to Australia and NZ!? Imagine the amount of business ideas that could be incubated by Fijian tech talent!?

The world will suffer another Covid-like pandemic. The only question is when, and will we have the vision to become more self sufficient rather than depending on handouts from Aus/NZ
