Alot of patience, coupled with love and compassion is required to look after an elderly citizen.

And these have been the principles for caregivers of

Father Law Home at Walekutu, in Lami.

For administrator, Katarina

Naduva, 60, she is proud to say that the commitment is shared by her colleagues and those who work in the caregiving industry.

She highlighted this as the country observed World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on

Monday.

She said that a lot of understanding was needed to take care of their residents because most of them were referrals from the St Giles

Hospital.

“Our main focus here is the care provided to our residents no matter the background of said.

“We try and make their living standards as comfortable as possible during the remaining time they have with us.

“It has always been a joy for caregivers to listen to them and reminisce on the good old times.”

The facility encouraged families around the country who have family members at the vulnerable age to continue to cherish the time they spend together with them.

There are 28 residents at the facility in Lami with the oldest, Mary Fong, who is 100 years old.

This is something the facility calls a blessing. the person,” Ms Naduva
