Rokovuaka Youths Praised For Hard Work

Youths of Rokovuaka Village in Ra, received a standing ovation by the Minister for Employment, Productivi­ty and Industrial Relations and Youth and Sports, Parveen Bala, for their hard work.

Mr Bala officially opened their canteen project yesterday, At the event, Mr Bala said it was a proud moment to be celebratin­g achievemen­ts especially during these trying times. “I commend the work you (youths) have been doing in terms of developmen­t for your community.”

The ministry had invested $4343 as start-up capital.

This, Mr Bala hopes will help maximise the return on the investment and help grow the business. He added the real challenge was how best the 33 member team could work together to ensure the business grows.

“In launching the youth shop project, you have responsibi­lities to live up to,” Mr Bala said.

“From the assistance provided, we expect your commitment to help the business grow.”

Rokovuaka youth leader, Ilisoni Nagalele, praised the Government for assisting them.

“Our youth group was first establishe­d in 1995 and since then we have never had a project this big,” Mr Nagalele said. “We are very thankful to the Government for their support and faith in us to be able to provide empowermen­t and opportunit­ies to our village.”

Mr Bala and his team arranged to help assist more youths to join the seasonal workers scheme.

“Apart from the investment towards the canteen my team and I would like to assist the village in signing up more youths for the seasonal workers scheme.
