Xinhua Helps Fiji Sun Staff

Links between Fiji’s biggest newspaper, the Fiji Sun, and the world’s biggest news agency, Xinhua, continue to prosper.

The latest example is more PPE (personal protection equipment) sent for Fiji Sun journalists to use when working in COVID-19 situations.

This was arranged by the Xinhua News Agency Suva Bureau Chief Yongxing Zhang. Mr Yongxing said although the continuing PPE help was limited and sometimes delayed because of travel restrictions, it symbolises the friendship between Xinhua and Fiji Sun.

Fiji Sun Publisher/CEO Peter Lomas said the Fiji Sun valued this partnership with Xinhua, including the news exchange agreement. This gave the Fiji Sun access to the worldwide work of Xinhua journalists in more than 170 foreign bureaus worldwide and 31 in China.

“Xinhua provides news from not just developed nations but also throughout the developing world,” Mr Lomas said.

“No other news agency match this.”
