BE PART OF THE NEXT MICRO MARKET ON SATURDAY JUNE 27

- LAISEANA NASIGA

The first micro market organised by the Fiji Sports Council yesterday at its carpark infront of its newly renovated office was hailed a success.

The micro-market brought in budding entrepreneurs, mums and dads to display and sell their wares.

Developing micro-markets

Operations manager Elenoa Korovulavula said at $30 a stall, the council has made access to the micromarket easy for vendors.

At $30 per stall, vendors will be provided with a tent, table and two chairs.

She also said the micro market would also assist entrepreneurs develop their own micro-market. “Something to get excited about, something to do. “Especially mums and dads with special things, knick and knacks, lovely home cooked sweets and savories, that they want to sell, this is an opportunity for them to do so, hopefully this platform will assist them in developing their own micro-markets,” she said.

More than 30 vendors have so far confirmed their bookings on Saturday, June 27 from 9am to 6pm.

Park and sell

To ease things for selling, vendors also have the option of selling their items from the boot of their car. This was a new concept by the council to basically park and sell.

“We are charging $20 per car for this, so you’re like a mobile shop in a way.

“Just park and sell basically,” said Ms Korovulavula. Ms Korovulavula said they have already put in place COVID-19 health and safety protocols for the facilities that are open.
