China’s Xinjiang lifts nearly 3m residents out of poverty
Urumqi: Nearly three million residents were lifted out of poverty in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from 2014 to 2019, local authorities said.
A total of 737,000 households, or more than 2.92 million residents, cast off poverty in the region during the period, with the poverty rate decreasing to 1.24 per cent from 19.4 per cent in 2013, according to the information office of the regional government.
