July 7 set to fix hearing dates
Hearing dates for Navua businessman convicted of rape, Govind Sami, was set for July 7.
Sami, 61, appeared before Justice Chandana Prematilaka in the Court of Appeal yesterday.
He was convicted and sentenced to nine years imprisonment, with a non-parole period of eight years by the High Court in Suva on March, 2018.
The court had granted Sami eight grounds of appeal to be argued.
Sami’s lawyer Devanesh Sharma from R Patel Lawyers
told the court that he had received the judge’s notes and obtained the transcripts from the court. Mr Sharma was also given time to file a record of the appeal for certificate at the Court of Appeal registry.
