Convicted wife murderer’s appeal adjourned
Justice Chandana Prematilaka has adjourned the case of a 39-yearold convicted murderer to August hearing date. Venktesh Permal Goundar appeared in the Fiji Court of Appeal yesterday represented by lawyer, Sunil Gosaiy, on the instructions of Fazilat Shah Legal.
He was convicted and sentenced for one count of murder in April 2018 by the High Court in Suva. Goundar was handed a mandatory life imprisonment for murdering his 25-year-old wife in 2015. He was ordered to serve a minimum prison term of 18 years before parole could be considered. to fix a

He had pleaded guilty to the murder of his 33-yearold de facto partner, Lavenia Radinitavea.
The incident occurred on May 1, 2016, at a Suva apartment where Hicks was a driver and the deceased was a receptionist.
Hicks had filed eight grounds of appeal for conviction and five grounds of appeal against his sentence.
