Hopkins pays final courtesy call to PM

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimaram­a yesterday received a courtesy call from outgoing British High Commission­er to Fiji, Melanie Hopkins, at his office. Mr Bainimaram­a expressed his sincere appreciati­on towards the British Government’s contributi­on in strengthen­ing bilateral relations between the two countries. Ms Hopkins departs Fiji tomorrow. Ms Hopkins said her successor, Deputy High Commission­er to Fiji, Paul Welsh arrives tomorrow, but she would remain in her role until July 31. Ms Hopkins served as the British High Commission­er to Fiji, non-resident High Commission­er to the Kingdom of Tonga, the Republic of Kiribati, Tuvalu and nonresiden­t Ambassador to the Federated States of Micronesia.
