Lifters Train for Online Event
Weightlifting Fiji athletes are training in small bubbles in preparation for an Online Competition.
This was confirmed yesterday by coach Henry Elder.
“There will be an international club competition that will be run by Fiji, United States of America, Australia along with other countries and it will be an online competition,” Elder said.
“The competition will happen via Zoom. We’ve a few coaches who have been notified. This include those in other parts of the world. We had a trial run a few weeks ago and it was a success. We had a few more trial runs in the United States, which was also great.
Now that the gym is open, Elder said, they had a few things to sort out in regards of being compliant to Government’s COVID-19 regulations.
“Once that is done we will be able to train openly just like other federations,” he said.
“So we are waiting for that to happen and then will officially start.”
