Government has approved the landing of a private jet that will bring 30 high-networth individuals to spend three months on an island resort.

Attorney-General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum revealed this during the Budget consultation at the Nadi Civic Centre yesterday.

“From our perspective this is balancing between managing health risk and opening also the economic pathways and it is critically important to do that,” he said.

“We also said specifically for high-net individuals or companies that may want to come to Fiji and in fact have announced that on Sunday that one group is coming. About 30 of them and they will be spending three months in Fiji.

“There is a lot of interest; they are coming in and they are paying for their way and actually landing in their private jet. And they get on the seaplane and then go to the island and stay for three months,” he said. Mr Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed the approval on Wednesday for their flight to arrive on Sunday.
