Sri Lanka urges citizens to maintain health guidelines

-

Colombo: Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has called upon his citizens to take stringent measures based on health guidelines to prevent a re-emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic in the island country.

In a statement on his official Twitter account, President Rajapaksa said that while most countries are suffering from COVID-19, Sri Lanka has achieved a remarkable victory through collective efforts, but the virus is yet to be eradicated. “Negligence could spread the virus again,” the President said.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka surpassed the 2000 mark on Thursday.

A total of 11 deaths have been reported.
