Bi grateful to council for market space
Icried for days when I lost eveRYTHING TO THE fiRE, SAYS SAKINA BI, A BUSINESS WOMAN IN RAKIRAKI.
Ms Bi was one of seven who lost their business to the fire that broke out late last month.
“I look after my family while my husband brings in what he can,” she said.
“I have been a tailor for many years, the past two years I was renting in the building that caught fire.
“I could not get myself together because I lost everything, I worked so hard to build.”
She said it wasn’t easy starting a business a few years back and it’s even harder during this pandemic.
Ms Bi was grateful to the Rakiraki Town Council for allowing them space at their old market lockdown.
“Though this is a very confined space I am grateful to have been given space to start again.”
She said she was thankful to the Rakiraki Muslim League for donating a sewing machine to help her start-up.
“Though this is smaller than the one I lost to the fire, I am forever grateful to the league for helping me in times of need.” Several other businesses that are yet to set up in the old Rakiraki Market lockdown area include an electrical shop, perfume seller, tailor and barber shop.
