Court grants defence time

The High Court in Suva has granted time to the defence counsel to go through disclosures with the Congolese national facing a murder charge.

Kiala Marcellino Penakoy Henri Lusaka, before Justice Daniel Goundar yesterday.

Lusaka is charged with one count of murder of his 44-year-old wife, Jennifer Anne Downes, an Australian national.

The alleged incident occurred on July 23, 2019, at their rented home at Service Street in Suva.

Justice Goundar granted defence lawyer Laurel Vaurasi a week to go through the disclosures with her client. Lusaka has been further remanded in custody and the matter was adjourned to July 10.
