Justice Goundar rejects plea

- Edited by Ivamere Nataro

Justice Daniel Goundar yesterday rejected a guilty plea by a Kinoya man who is alleged to have murdered his wife in December last year.

Fatai Peni, 53, is alleged to have slit Apete Bale’s throat on December 29, 2019, following a heated argument.

Peni is charged with one count of murder.

Justice Goundar didn’t accept Peni’s guilty plea after he told the court that he did not speak to his lawyer about his plea.

Justice Goundar encouraged Peni to speak with his lawyer and advise the court of his plea or change of plea on the next court date. The matter was adjourned to July 14, and Peni has been further remanded. Ashna Kumar
