162 Cleared of VOCID-19 in 1st round tests: Naupoto
Next round of tests in 14 days
The 162 soldiers who arrived home last Saturday from Sinai have been cleared of COVID-19, after the first round of tests.
They were tested
They are currently under quarantine at two separate Government-funded facilities in Nadi.
The soldiers served under the Multinational Force Observers (MFO). Their 12-month tour of duty extended to another four months because of the global COVID-19 pandemic. They are expected to undergo another round of tests after 14 days.

Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto said it was good news that the soldiers were cleared. “Given that some of the people they worked with in Egypt had tested positive of COVID-19, the result of the first round of tests is a relief,” he said.
He also said a soldier had shown symptoms of the virus. He was tested twice and both results came out negative.
The RFMF continues to work closely with the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to ensure that precautionary measures are followed while the soldiers are under quarantine.
