WOMEN PLEAD GUILTY TO PROSTITUTION CHARGES

Two women have pleaded guilty to prostitution charges.

Kalara Yabaki and Nikita Neha, both 25 years old and unemployed, appeared before Magistrate Asanga Bodaragama yesterday.

The two are separately charged with one count of loitering for the purpose of prostitution.

It is alleged that the two women on the night of February 26, this year, about 1am in Samabula, were loitering for the purpose of prostitution.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Monish Chandra told the court that when the two women were questioned by the Police of their presence at the alleged time of the offence, the two women said they were there to earn money for their family in exchange of sex.

The matter was adjourned to July 20. ASHNA KUMAR
