Matter of fairness

Vinaka Vakalevu to the NZRU and the All Blacks Coach Ian Foster for their commitment to Pacific rugby and their willingness to negotiate and play the Flying Fijians in early October 2020 before their Bledisloe Cup and European tour later this year.

Rugby is a global sport and its laws must not be discriminatory with equal opportunities available for all and not restrictive, but the All Blacks coach is adamant that the NZRU and ARU as a matter of principle should be fair to Pacific island rugby as quoted on the back page of the Fiji Sun on June 20th which is very welcoming and is pleasing to all concerned.

But the rugby laws in New Zealand and Australia now restrict our Fijian boys who are plying their trade in these two countries to represent either NZ or Australia, or they will lose their club contracts should they choose to play for Fiji. What hypocrisy this is? Or are they afraid of losing to Fiji or Samoa? Let’s not be there to make numbers, but beat them, Kiwis or the Aussies, should the games go ahead to prove a point and I do not see the reason why we cannot when FRU has now appointed a world class Fiji 15s National Coach.
