$1.5m Spent to Boost Heavy Machinery Fleet
Boosted with the inclusion of more than $1.5 million of new cranes, bulldozers and other heavy machinery the demand for work for Mobile Crane Hire Services (MCHS) has been eased.
MCHS general manager Krishneel Reddy said the company has been purchasing cranes the last two years - the latest two from China early this year.
“The new cranes were delivered in February; a few weeks later we had the COVID-19 lockdown and curfew,” Mr Reddy said.
“The delivery was timely and we were so grateful because despite the restricted movements and curfew we had by then cleared them off from the wharf and were already rolling with our projects,’ he said. “Government’s reducing duty on brand new machinery had worked as an incentive for us to buy brand new cranes.
“The new cranes not only boost our fleet of heavy machinery but have bolstered our ability to perform the toughest of tasks.
“To compliment that we have skilled operators who operate them with safety paramount when at work.”
Last year MCHS had acquired new 30 tonne cranes. They had also invested heavily in borehole machines; they now have two drilling rigs with supporting machines.
This included a dolly trailer to complement their prime mover and low bed trailer.
“The combination of these trailers enables us to carry heavy loads across Fiji but these are subject to Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) approvals.
“Without this combination, it is very hard to obtain FRA approval for moving heavy loads.
“Our price for boreholes the cheapest in Fiji.
“This is because we do our business out of passion and a genuine pledge to help farming communities.”
The company has lately started doing civil works now that they have their own excavators, bulldozers and graders.
MCHS was established in 1980 to provide a complete range of lifting services and equipment hire.
Since then, the business has steadily evolved from an agile operation to form part of the Challenge Group, and one of Fiji’s preeminent construction groups while maintaining is probably its family approach to business.
MCHS has a firm commitment to continuously improving their safety processes, developing strict procedures and protection systems to ensure they manage their projects according to the highest standards of health and safety best practice in Fiji’s construction industry.
Their machineries include telescopic cranes from 5 tonnes to 60 tonnes, crawler cranes, bore hole drill machines, ager machines,
Hiab trucks, semi-trailers and low loaders, excavators, cherry pickers, pile driving and dredging equipment.
