New Labasa Academy in progress

Fiji Football Associatio­n Labasa Academy is expected to be opened by February, next year, says Rajesh Patel.

The Fiji FA president said yesterday that the academy would be of internatio­nal standard and would boost developmen­t of players in the Northern Division.

“We are the only sporting organisati­on building an academy in the northern division which is set to open in February,” Patel said.

BRIGHTER FUTURE

“We have taken the initiative to give youths the opportunit­y to be better players before they make the national team.

“The academy will include a kitchen, office, playground, dormitorie­s (accommodat­e 30 players), technical room, conference hall, changing room and space for 150180 people for weddings, birthdays and private functions.”

The Fiji FA plans to hold the Vodafone Fiji FACT tournament at Labasa’s Subrail Park in November provided it’s Occupation­al, Health, Safety (OHS) compliance.
