Father of 7: Bus Fare Assistance is a Blessing
Afather of seven was one of the many waiting at the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts building in Suva yesterday eager to apply for bus fare assistance for students. Waisake Bulubale, 50, from Nakorosule Village, Naitasiri, said five of his children were schooling and assistance as such, given the COVID-19 crisis, was a blessing.
“It is very helpful and a relief for me and my wife, because I was the only breadwinner in the family,” he said.
He said it would had been impossible for him to send his children to school without the assistance.
“Life is getting hard, but I manage to plant root crops in my farm and sell them to feed my family,” he said.
It comes after the recent announcement by the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Rosy Akbar, last week.
The assistance is provided to parents and guardians who have lost their job or are working on reduced hours because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
