DPP files consolidated charges in Lateef, Maharaj-Moore case
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has consolidated two files in which they have charged former Suva lawyer Shazran Abdul Lateef.
Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Sahil Shiraz filed the consolidated charges yesterday. Lateef appeared before Chief Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili. He is charged alongside his alleged accomplice and former Hibiscus contestant, Zoe Maharaj-Moore. The court heard that MaharajMoore was remanded at the Natabua Remand Centre in Lautoka, hence she did not appear in court.
Lateef charges and Maharaj-Moore’s for the matter stand with two counts of found in possession of illicit drugs.
For the first count, it is alleged that Lateef and Maharaj-Moore on August 14, 2019, at Raiwai, without lawful authority, were found in possession of methamphetamine weighing 0.0063 grams.
For the second count, it is alleged that Lateef and MaharajMoore on August 14, 2019, at Raiwai, without lawful authority, were found in possession of marijuana weighing 07.5 grams. Chief Magistrate Ratuvuli further remanded Lateef and issued a production order for Maharaj-Moore.
The matter has been adjourned for plea on July 22.
