Master Kava signs up with M-PAiSA

Master Kava, a roadside vendor along Mead Road, will offer delivery services as part of its expansion plans.

The announcement yesterday allows customers to order kava through the company’s Facebook page, and make payments through Vodafone’s M-PAiSA’s payment platform.

Master Kava is the first roadside vendor to be registered with Vodafone M-PAiSA scheme.

The move to a cashless payment scheme provides convenience to its customers and reduces security risks, said managing director Eroni Tukana.

“With M-PAiSA, there will be no hard cash, money is transferred through mobile phones so it is safer,” he said.

The former school teacher started the business in July 2015.

He ventured into the kava business as it was the main source of income for his Tavuki Village in Kadavu.

Mr Tukana invested $10,000 in his business.

Master Kava has three outlets; one in Centre Point along Dovi Road, Khalsa Road in Tamavua, and Mead Road, Tamavua. Mr Tukana plans to open his fourth outlet in Nasinu.

Chand said for roadside vendors to register with M-PAiSA would enable them to see real time transactions.

“For example, if anyone does the payment through M-PAiSA, they can enter the narration as customer name and location on the app and the business owner will be able to see the transaction in real time,” he said.
