Saladoka added the team could not wait to play after having to wait for three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
“Our preparations started long before COVID-19 hit the country, and then everything was on lockdown so the boys had to do their own training for nearly three to four months,” he said.
“Imagine training hard for no game time is just frustrating and as of now the players are hungry to play and win.
“The date fixed for the first game and the players can’t wait for it to happen.
“They can’t wait to get out there and play some rugby. Also, for us it will be interesting to watch some of our young players who are playing for the first time.
“There are couple of Fiji under- 20 players in the team which is a good sign in terms of development. “Even though they come from the national team environment they are still guided and taught by the senior players in the team.”
Amenoni Nasilasila
Meanwhile, the Namosi Rugby Union has yet to confirm the services of former Fijian 7s and Nadroga fullback Amenoni Nasilasila.
“Will see how it goes with the elevant authorities before making an official announcement about him,” he said.
Nasilasila is serving an eight-year jail term at the Naboro Corrections Centre. He is appealing his rape conviction and sentence.
