Fijian football fans will be able to watch live Fiji Football Association sanctioned- tournaments and selected Vodafone Premier League matches from the comfort of their homes.

This was made possible after the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation and Fiji FA signed a threemonth agreement at the FBC boardroom in Suva, yesterday.

FBC chief executive officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said with the current COVID-19 pandemic fans would want to watch some sports.

“We are proud of the fact that FBC has negotiated a deal with the Fiji Football Association to show live Vodafone Premiere League matches once a week,” he said.

“During this COVID-19 period there will be a lot of people who will want to watch live local football.

“There has been a lack of live sports on television. The fact that FBC has managed to under very trying and extreme circumstances to show live football matches once a week is a testament of how hard the team is working.

“This will be selected games for the next three months. This comes at a time we believe the country really needs it, there’s a lot of people who are relying on mainstream media.

“We need this as a country more than ever and we will keep this going for the next three months and will see how it goes.”

Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel reassured fans that this historic agreement was the first of many.
