China bashing so wrong

-

Timoci Gaunavinaka, Nausori

It is becoming a common habit among our people to make a mockery of China or anything Chinese.

We go through social media and we will see it. From being the source of COVID-19 to suppliers of fake goods or to their believing in fake Gods, are all what many see China to be. These views have been influenced by many western perceptions of China.

But history has presented that there is no other civilisation or culture the world can learn so much from than China’s. Their civilisation and culture pre-dates those of the Romans, out lived them and has continuously evolved to become what it is today.

The Great Wall of China, the only manmade structure seen from the moon is more than 21,000 kilometres long and was built in a total duration of over 2000 years.

This displayed an outrageous commitment of persistence and patience covering dozens of generations to achieve a common goal. In battle, Genghis Khan conquered more territory than any man in the history of mankind.

The areas he controlled covered Turkey, southern Russia, Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Oman, Yemen, Qatar, northern India, China, Mongolia, Tajikistan, North and South Korea. The territory he conquered is three times bigger than that of Alexander the Great.

In the field of philosophy, they have Confucius, whose teachings are spread in over 500 institutes named after him in over 150 countries today.

When it comes to military strategists, there is no one greater than Sun Tzu who lived over 2500 years ago, yet whose military techniques listed in his book, “The Art of War” has been applied in battles for more than 2000 years including the first and second world wars, the Vietnam War, the Six Day

War, etc. Today the applications of his more than 100 famous quotes from all 13 chapters of this book is spread to business, economics and politics the world over.

In this modern era with all its technologies, they produce a son like Jack Ma, who has reinvented and re-written the guidelines on how businesses are to be run.

Today, the world’s biggest economy, the US, owes China over a trillion dollars or over a thousand of billion US dollars.

So for a tiny dot in the ocean like us, with absolutely nothing significant to compare with this military and economic super power, making a mockery of them is actually making a mockery of our own ignorant self.
